Bob Opitz, Board Member

Robert Opitz, Jr., is a longtime Piscataway resident. Bob earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Rutgers University in 1992. He has been employed for 18 years with Chubb Group of Insurance Companies where he is currently a Vice President and Worldwide Inland Marine Manager. Bob travels worldwide in his current position and understands the need for preparing today’s students to work in a global society.

Bob and his wife of 19 years, Eileen, met while attending Piscataway High School. They have two children, Ashley and Robert, III. Both children attend Piscataway’s public schools. Ashley is a junior at Piscataway High School and Robert is in 8th grade at Quibbletown Middle School.

Bob has volunteered countless hours to Piscataway’s schools. He has served as Co-President of the Quibbletown Middle School Parent Teacher Group and he was a community member of the Board of Education’s Community Relations committee.

Bob has also committed himself to his Piscataway community. He works as the Athletic Director and coach for the Catholic Youth Organization’s basketball program at Our Lady of Fatima parish. He has also been an assistant coach with the Piscataway Little League and Piscataway Recreation baseball and basketball programs.

Bob is currently a Piscataway Board of Education member. He serves as Co-chairperson of the Community Relations Committee and as a member on the Curriculum & Programs committee. Having grown up in Piscataway and attended Piscataway’s public schools, Bob can see the important changes that have been implemented since his days in the Piscataway school system. He sees the improvements to the school buildings, as well as the school curriculum. Seeing these changes has made Bob want to work towards making it possible to continue to improve the Piscataway school system.

Bob is seeking another 3 year term on the Piscataway Board of Education because he wants to continue his work to provide the very best education possible for every child that attends Piscataway’s public schools. Bob feels strongly that every student within the Piscataway school system deserves a quality education. Those students that fall between special needs and honors need to be provided the same excellent attention to their educational needs as everyone else. Bob wants to work to ensure that this is the case.
